Aftershock Festival Brings Weekend of Music for the Fifth Year Running

In just under a month, the Monster Energy Aftershock Festival will be making its return to Sacramento with one of the largest lineup of bands on the west coast. Since the festival began in 2012, it’s held over 120 individual concerts and has been able to secure acts ranging from Chevelle, Stone Temple Pilots, and Jane’s Addiction to Weezer, Megadeath, and Bush, ensuring that there is something for every rock fan. In total there have been over 110 unique acts who have taken to Aftershock’s stages, and organizers have continued to expand the two-day music lineup, adding 30 new bands to this year’s lineup. With no signs of anything other than an incredible weekend of music, it comes as no surprise that the local economy has seen a boost to the tune of $11 million since the festival’s inception, with as many as 45,000 rock fans making their way through the gates over the two days of concerts in 2015 alone.

Now entering its fifth year, this year’s lineup tops out with over 35 featured bands for the October 22nd and 23rd event that will take place at Discovery Park. Some of the largest names on this year’s lineup include Tool, who will perform in a rare U.S. appearance during the first day of the festival, as well as Avenged Sevenfold, Korn, Slayer, Anthrax, and Zakk Sabbath. New bands to take to Aftershock’s stage as part of the 2016 lineup include Primus, Motionless in White, Anthrax, Suicide Silence, Disturbed, and Some Fear None.

Filling out the festival will be a host of other attractions and activities to look for in-between the stage times. For those festival goers over 21, they can get a “Taste of Tennessee” from the Jack Daniel’s Experience as they make their way through a mobile museum that allows them to see and smell the famous whiskey as it drips through charcoal and the oak barrels used in the process. The Keep Golf Metal movement will give attendees the chance to play 9 holes of putt putt style golf that fuses rock and golf together. Those looking to help make a lasting change to the community can make their way to the Take Me Home booth, where they can help contribute to an animal rights advocacy foundation and find custom gear that assists the organization in rescuing animals throughout the state.

While countless rock fans have been long awaiting the high-energy festival for months with tickets in hand, for those who have yet to buy their tickets to the all-ages festival, there is still time to do so. As of publication of this article, general admission tickets can be purchased online at AftershockConcert.com/tickets for the weekend of music featuring over 35 bands for $199.50. Those looking for a general admission ticket for one day only can purchase their ticket for either day for $94.50. Those looking to purchase their tickets in-person can do so at their lock Dimple Records. Other amenities available for purchase include lockers that provide a secure place for your belongings along with a cell charging station, as well as parking passes starting at $15 for a single day pass or $30 for a weekend pass, to $30 for a single day premium pass or $50 for a weekend premium pass.
